In this monologue based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, First World War soldier Private Tommo Peaceful looks back at their short but joyful past growing up in rural Devon: the exciting first days at school; the accident in the forest that killed their father; adventures with the love of their life; and the battles and injustices of war that brought them to the front line.

A one-man play he short life of World War II poet Keith Douglas, from his childhood through four engagements to his fighting in the Western desert, his accelerated education as a poet and his early death three days after the Normandy D-Day landings at the age of twenty-four.
