The Flint Street Nativity Audition Notice
Date, time and location of the production
Monday 19th – Saturday 24th February 2024 on our wonderful main stage! Each of the six performances will start at 7:30pm.
Date, time and Location of the audition
2pm at the theatre on Sunday 5th November. Auditions will be on the main stage. The aim is to finish at or before 5pm but this will depend on how many people turn up on the day
The play
The Flint Street Nativity is set in a primary school as a group of 7 year olds are waiting with anticipation to perform their class nativity in front of their parents. The 7 year olds are played by adults who also play their parents later in the play. The songs typically used in Nativity performances are sung by the children. But instead of singing the actual words, they either mummer or try to express what they are really thinking. As not only do they have their home lives to contend with, they have the life or death drama of being a 7 year old in a class full of other 7 year olds, which is of course very, VERY serious! For a 7 year old anyway…for an audience member it’s hilarious!
The Parts and the audition process (short version)
There are 11 parts in the play, 6 male and 5 female all with a rough playing age of 20s – 50s. There is flexibility in the casting in terms of Gender and age as ultimately I want the 11 best possible performers.
The audition will be split into two parts: A group singing audition and group acting pieces which will be directed by me on the day.
