Chorley Theatre

Open auditions for anyone age between 10 and 18yrs of age. Rehearsals will predominantly be on Sundays with perhaps one evening during the week. Also we will be rehearsing possinly one day on the May half term. Before you audition please make sure you are available for the performance dates below. Please can you come in comfortable clothes you are able to move in and don’t forget a drink.

Moana JR the musical tells the tale of Moana a young woman who is determined to save the future of her Island Motanui. Along with the demigod Maui they go on an adventure to restore the heart of Ta Fiti.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a fun and dynamic musical. Auditions will take place on Sunday 7th April, please see details below:

Please note: Auditionees under 16-years-old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Moana
Gender-F
Moana is a young girl who has been tasked by the ocean to return the heart of Ta Fiti and restore the islands. As the main part the character requires very strong stage presence and confidence, a very strong singing voice is required. Must be able to dance or move to rhythm. You will be required to sing the following song at the audition along with some scenes (scenes will be available at audition)

Gender -M

Maui is a demigod who Moana has roped in to help her restore the heart. This character has confidence in abundance and is not afraid to show it. The part requires a very strong singing voice and be able to dance or move to rhythm. You will be required to sing the following song at the audition along with some scenes (scenes will be available at audition)

Gramma Tala
Gender – F
Moana’s wise Grandma and mother of Chief Tui and the village ‘Crazy Lady’. An eccentric and playful character along with great comic timing. Small songs throughout the musical.

Ancestor 1,2 and 3
Gender – Any
Moana’s proud and noble voyaging ancestors, these help narrate her journey, storytelling through voice and movement.

The roles below are quite small speaking parts so can be stand alone parts or can be part of the ensemble.

Hei Hei
Gender – Any
Moana’s not so bright friend, a chicken. The part is quite innocent and has speaking and singing solo’s

Gender – F
Moana’s fiercely loyal friend, a pig who along the way has to face some of her own fears.

Chief Tui (Moana’s father)
Gender – M
The proud leader of Motanui and Moana’s father. We need an actor who can act poised and can sing.

Sina (Moana’s mother)
Gender – F
Moana’s supportive mother. Strong willed and compassionate with both speaking and singing solo’s the part requires someone who can portray a mature and respected leader.

Tamatoa
Gender – Any
A viscous crab who lives in Lalotai, the Realm of Monsters who enjoys gathering and collecting anything shiny. A showman who isn’t afraid to talk and sing about himself.

Ensemble details
The ensemble consists of villagers, the ocean, ancestors, the monsters. Some of the ensemble will have small speaking parts but this will be decided after we have cast the ensemble. Must be able to dance.

What to expect for ensemble auditions, a small singing workshop and a dancing workshop.

Anyone is welcome to audition. Top tip…..research. There is a ton of information on you tube and the songs and lyrics can be found on Spotify. If you have a different song you would like to sing then please let me know. Backing tracks will be provided on the day of audition. Please also ignore any Polynesian language, we will be having workshops for this once we have cast.
