Audition Notice and Welcome afternoon event for
Shrek the Musical Jr 2026 – A Chorley Youth Theatre Production.
Performance dates:
Wednesday 8th July – 7pm,
Thursday 9th July – 7pm,
Friday 10th July – 7pm,
Saturday 11th July – Noon, 3pm, 7pm.
The production is 1 hour long with no interval.
Let your freak flag fly as CADOS presents Shrek Jr! Fancy being in the greenest show around? Think Wicked but in a swamp! Whether you are a seasoned youth performer or a total newbie we would love to meet you and have you as part of our show!
Welcome afternoon 17th 1-3pm @Chorley Theatre Studio.
Bring your fairytale friends and join us down at the swamp to meet our production team, learn about the show and prepare for the audition. If you cannot attend this event, please do not worry. You can still sign up through the online registration form and join our audition.
The welcome event will include a singing, dancing and acting workshop so please ensure your child has comfortable clothing for movement and water.
All audition materials will be sent out after the welcome afternoon and will be available to download.
Auditions will take place on Sunday 1st March. Meet in the main theatre.
Performers must be between 10 and 18 years old.
Registration/sign in – 09:00- 09:30
09:30-11:00am dance workshop/audition section
11:00-12:00 ensemble singing
12:00-15:00 – main character auditions.
Please note: Auditionees under 16-years-old must be accompanied by an adult on the audition day. There will be teas and coffees available.
About the show:
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the hit Broadway musical, Shrek the Musical Jr is a hilarious and heart-warming for performers and audiences of all ages.
When everyone’s favourite ogre, Shrek, discovers his swamp has been overrun by banished fairytale characters, he sets out on a journey to restore his home. Along the way, he is joined by fast-talking Donkey and sent on a quest by the power-hungry Lord Farquaad to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona. What follows is an adventure filled with humour, catchy songs and an importance message about friendship, acceptance and being proud of who you are!
Featuring a wide range of ensemble characters, Shrek the Musical JR offers a wide variety of roles and ensemble opportunities for performers of all abilities.
